Seeing the sites!

So yesterday was a bust as far as sight seeing. Today, a co-worker suggested I check out Baltimore, Maryland and the inner harbor area. So off I went…

I drove past the USS Constellation, then Parked on the 8th level and walked back over… it’s an impressive looking wooden ship. Too bad the tours all close long before I can get anywhere. I would have liked to walk onto the ships in the harbor. They had more than just this one ship, but I didn’t take a picture of the coast guard ship, and I didn’t take the water taxi around the harbor as they were ignoring lots of stops it seemed. I’ll have to come back some day and be able to take the tours where you can board the ships!

They had a submarine, the USS Torsk.

Before I left for the evening… i took a shot of what the area looked like at night from the 9th level of the parking garage.

I would have said something nice about the food….but the “nice” places I wandered up to were all closed because of a water main break in the area. Potbelly Sandwiches was open, and I was hungry. I got a regular Italian on wheat…(It’s like Quiznos). That was that…headed back to the hotel, printed my boarding pass to London and Stuttgart. So, don’t expect any updates until probably Saturday sometime…I’ll be tired.

TomTom…bad TomTom!

I trusted TomTom with my tourist attractions.  I won’t make that mistake again!  It took me to two historic districts, sure…one was deserted and everything closed, and I never saw a fountain.  The other was a run down city center.

Odessa, Delaware…off the list.  I don’t remember the name of the other place, but I stopped a the Food Lion and now have chewy granola for breakfast tomorrow.

I then thought…TomTom wouldn’t lie twice…right?  So I tried again.  Gilpin Falls, Maryland.  I did find the covered bridge.  But traffic was whizzing past and I didn’t stop…  I took a picture of the sign, but that website has better shots.  Good enough!

I gave it one more go and went to 107 Tory House, Charlestown, MD.  Ok, tomorrow, TomTom only gets to  go places I give it instead of it telling me where to go.

I headed back to Wilmington, DE to my hotel and stopped off at Apple Bees to eat.

I’m watching the NCAA championship game and will crash out… tomorrow is my last day in Deleware, and lunch is at Cheeseburger in Paradise!

The View

I promised the view from my hotel sucked… here it is..

Looking Left:[flickr]photo:2397753172[/flickr]

I cannot see anything but that…no street, no sky. Amazing.

I’m not there!

I made it to Wilmington, DE.  I’m downtown – that was a mistake.  There’s no food!  I’ll see if I can move myself to a better locale…but it is only 3 nights.  I’ll survive.

I left the house around 8:00am, get to DIA and promptly was changed gates, so I wandered to the other side of terminal A.  Thanks Frontier!  The plane was FULL. Why are so many people going to Philadelphia, PA on a Sunday?  I paid the $5 for DirecTV as I was stuck in the middle seat and my normal entertainment of looking out the window wasn’t an option.  Time went pretty fast for that.

At the Philadelphia Airport, there was some hobo lady sleeping by baggage claim and asked me for a dollar. I didn’t give her a dollar…I don’t think that’d could be expensed…somehow…

Getting the car wasn’t too bad, a bit of a line.  It’s a silver Mazda Speed 3 (Smokin’ would be happy).  I don’t have a clue how to set the trip computer.  It’ll function for my 3 days here

I went to Bugaboo Steak House for dinner tonight.  They had a good steak, baked potato and the salad was fresh and tasty.  I devoured the salad as I hadn’t eaten yet today.  Then the blackened 7oz Sirloin was easily cut with a fork.

Tomorrow, I’ll have to take a picture of my view of the cooling stacks here at the Courtyard.  I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.  Parking sucks, it’s in a garage around the corner.

Off to sleep, I’m a bit tired…flying and driving I guess does that to me…it’s 7:52pm at home…9:52 here.

It begins…

Sunday, I depart for Philly.

No, I’m not packed…and I don’t have everything yet.  It’s freaking someone out, not me.

It was bound to occur..

It was bound to happen. I’ve found a reason to create a web logging on my on namesake domain.

I’m taking a trip soon, so I will use this to document my travels. We’ll see how happy I am with it. I’m using a release candidate for WordPress, not the stable release…so…yeah, you know how good that goes, right?

It does have some nifty things…and we’ll be exploring them later. tah
